Senior Medical Billing Coding Specialist

The Senior Medical Billing Coding Specialist will help ensure the practice remains compliant with documentation and coding during the claims billing process. The role involves supporting the health journey of patients with core values such as Purpose Driven, Relationships Matter, Serve Others First, and Inspire Creativity.

Responsibilities include performing paper and EMR chart audits in accordance with third party and CMS requirements, ensuring charges and billings accurately reflect the medical record per ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and CMS guidelines, coordinating and performing documentation and coding audits of outpatient records, maintaining up-to-date coding knowledge (AMA guidelines, Medicare LCDs, commercial payor billing guidelines), developing and coordinating educational and training programs related to coding, recommending procedural improvements, maintaining confidentiality of medical records, assisting with various audits, working with healthcare providers to identify coding opportunities, creating monthly operations performance reports, reporting to management, and contributing to interdepartmental projects.

Minimum qualifications include CPC Certification, high school diploma with at least five years of billing, coding, and medical records experience, with minimum two years of insurance resolution experience. The candidate must have broad knowledge of managed care, HMO policies, Medicare benefits, and strong knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.

Preferred education includes an associate degree in finance or business.
