Reporting to the Senior Director of Practice Management, the Medical Biller Specialist I will process claims for their assigned providers and facilities. The Billing Specialist will review medical documentation to properly bill services and treatment provided and submit claims to the payers following ICD-10, CPT coding and insurance guidelines.
This position is remote with monthly onsite requirements based in the Bronx, NY for team meetings and training. Incumbents must reside locally to the NYC market and be available to come onsite upon request.
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key duties include reviewing provider medical notes in eClinicalWorks (eCW), verifying diagnosis and CPT codes accuracy according to coding guidelines, assigning ICD-10, CPT, and modifier codes, daily communication with providers for claim information, identifying and correcting coding and billing errors, submitting billing data to appropriate insurances, and correcting denials due to coding errors.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Medical Billing Certification required.
- Certified Professional Coder preferred.
- Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT Codes, and Medical Terminology required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records, especially eClinicalWorks, is a plus.
- Minimum 1-2 years direct experience in medical billing (including internships).
