Medical Billing Coder

This remote position in Connecticut is responsible for managing professional reimbursement programs, ensuring compliance with billing and collection rules.

Responsibilities include:

  • Performing billing and computer functions such as patient and third-party billing, data entry, and posting encounters
  • Following up on outstanding accounts receivable across all payers and resolving denials
  • Preparing and submitting clean claims electronically or by paper
  • Addressing questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies
  • Identifying and resolving patient billing complaints
  • Preparing, reviewing, and sending patient statements; managing correspondence
  • Handling correspondence related to insurance and patient accounts to maximize payments and resolve issues
  • Taking calls regarding billing and statements
  • Posting patient and insurance payments
  • Reviewing clinical documentation and providing coding support to clinical staff as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED with experience in medical billing
  • Certified professional coder (CPC AAPC) with knowledge of third-party billing, ICD and CPT codes, and billing practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Experience with FQHC/EPIC desirable
