The specialist is responsible for submitting timely and accurate invoices to payers for services and products provided, evaluating and applying payments correctly to patient accounts, and performing follow-ups to ensure timely collections. The position includes assisting with billing and collection training and managing second-level appeals to payers.
Key responsibilities include verifying authorization and documentation for services/products billed, ensuring correct fee schedule application, mailing secondary and patient invoices promptly, identifying overpayments or duplicates, transferring payments between offices, and maintaining compliance with contract terms and HIPAA guidelines.
Basic qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and 0 to 6 months of previous infusion reimbursement or intake/admissions experience. Proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel and Word functions is required.
