Superior Ambulance Service is the largest independent, locally owned emergency medical services provider in the Midwest, employing over 4,000 licensed EMTs, Paramedics, and Nurses. The Medical Biller and Coder position is part of their Billing Department, located fully in-office Monday through Friday in Elmhurst, IL or Taylor, MI.
Responsibilities include reviewing patient care reports thoroughly to establish medical necessity, selection of levels of service, and patient condition at the time of transport; maintaining communication to obtain or clarify documentation; referring reports to the Processing Manager for coding questions; assigning condition codes with a minimum of 95% accuracy; meeting coding productivity standards; monitoring and adjusting daily duties to ensure timely and accurate coding; reporting productivity daily; utilizing email, Excel, Word, and department files; and attending meetings and education sessions to improve coding knowledge.
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred college coursework toward Healthcare Billing Certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

- Typing speed of at least 35 WPM.
