Medical Billing Specialist

Our client is a well-respected non-profit healthcare organization seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join their growing team.

The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurately and promptly applying all payments. Candidates must be motivated and able to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Experience with Medicare and Medicaid is required. CPC certification and Athena software experience are strong advantages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and submitting clean claims to various insurance companies.
  • Researching and performing all secondary billing.
  • Ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is received and completed.
  • Reviewing and recommending claims for adjustment/write-off to management.
  • Accurate and timely processing of claims.
  • Analyzing and updating submitted and rejected claims.
  • Posting payments.
  • Following up with insurance companies.

Required experience/skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits (EOB).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience collecting past due claims.
  • Experience in a high-volume setting.
  • Experience with Athena software.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Education:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Medical billing certification is a plus.

Salary and benefits:

  • Hourly wage $23 - $25.
