Medical Billing & Coding Specialist I

Southern Nevada Health District

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) is seeking a Medical Billing & Coding Specialist I to join their Financial Services Department. This role involves generating, reviewing, processing, and resolving medical insurance claims and medical unlikely edits related to ambulatory care clinic charge and capture within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The position ensures proper reimbursement billing and re-billing for healthcare services delivered, maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations according to established ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT-4 procedure coding classifications.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate's Degree in medical billing and coding or a High School diploma with relevant medical billing EMR coursework and experience. Candidates should have at least two years of full-time work experience in billing, charge administration, or related revenue cycle activities and one year of clerical administrative support experience. Medical staff credentialing experience is desirable.

The selection process involves application screening and interviews. Requirements & Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree in medical billing and coding from an accredited institution OR High School diploma with at least two post high-school courses in medical billing Electronic Medical Records systems
  • Two years of full-time work experience in billing, charge administration, charge audit, charge capture, or similar revenue cycle functions
  • One year of clerical administrative support experience
  • Medical staff credentialing experience is desirable
  • May require specialized skills or certifications as identified by hiring authority
