Medical Billing Specialist (Certified Billing and Coding Specialist)

As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will manage accounts, collect payments, send monthly statements, and resolve billing issues. Responsibilities include timely filing of insurance claims, review and correction of claim edits, ensuring clean claim submission, and collaborating with supervisors to handle reimbursement issues.

You will adhere to patient confidentiality policies, legal compliance, and clinic procedures, contributing creatively to the team and participating in ongoing training.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, certification as a Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS), over one year of medical billing experience, proficiency with Epic software, and a strong understanding of billing systems. Prior experience in FQHC settings is preferred.

Physical work demands include repetitive hand movements for typing/writing, occasional lifting over 50 pounds, and sedentary work involving sitting or standing.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS) required
  • Minimum 1 year medical billing experience
  • Prior Epic software experience
  • Strong knowledge of billing systems
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Confidentiality, legal compliance, attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills
  • Preferred: 2+ years medical environment experience, FQHC experience, FQHC CBCS certification
