The Medical Records Retrieval Representative (Risk Adjustment Representative 2) travels to provider offices within the state of Pennsylvania and scans medical records into a secure system. These records are reviewed by Humana's coding staff. This role reports to the Supervisor, Risk Adjustment.
This position covers south central Pennsylvania counties including Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York.
Responsibilities:
- Travel up to 100% in assigned territory and other required areas, including occasional overnight travel within the Northeast region.
- Drive to locations close to your home within the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with provider offices through phone calls and visits.
- Use multiple EMR systems to access records, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines.
- Use a laptop, portable scanner, and external thumb drive to retrieve and upload medical records into database systems.
- Schedule and conduct appointments and visits at physician offices efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Assist with regional phone calls and administrative projects.
Work hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM but may start as early as 7 AM depending on provider office needs, subject to change.
Though this role is remote, occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with various EMR systems.
- At least 1 year experience in a hospital or provider setting.
- Residency within south central PA counties listed above.
- Valid state driver’s license and personal vehicle liability insurance (minimum limits of 100/300/100).
- Ability to travel extensively and overnight occasionally.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
- Experience in managed care settings.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and/or ICD-10 codes.
- Previous medical record retrieval experience.
Home/Hybrid Work Requirements:
- Reliable internet connection with minimum 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speed.
- Dedicated work space free of interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA compliance.
- Telephone equipment will be provided by Humana.
