Medical Records Specialist

This is an entry-level onsite position at Valley Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA, focusing on Medical Records and Health Information Management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accurate and timely analysis and reanalysis of medical records.
  • Managing accounts from Meditech system queues requiring documentation.
  • Coordinating with ancillary/nursing departments and providers for missing documentation and dictation.
  • Maintaining unbilled spreadsheets and updating management.
  • Reviewing electronic medical records and managing chart deficiencies.
  • Managing various analysis work queues to ensure timely chart completion.
  • Following company policies and workflow guidelines.
  • Identifying systematic problems and reporting to management.
  • Documenting workflows and process changes.

Preferred experience:

  • Knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission regulations.
  • EMR and healthcare revenue cycle experience, especially in acute care facility HIM.
  • Openness to innovation including AI to improve processes.

Certification:

  • CRCR certification required within 9 months (company paid).

Compensation:

  • Hourly pay between $18.65 – $19.90 based on experience.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must complete CRCR certification within 9 months of hire (company paid).
  • Knowledge of CMS and Joint Commission regulations preferred.
  • EMR experience preferred.
  • Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience preferred, especially acute care facility HIM experience.
  • Must be inquisitive and open to innovation including AI to improve workflows and patient/client experience.
