This is a full-time on-site role for a Medical Office Specialist at Airport Clinic, located in Valdosta, GA.

The Medical Office Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of healthcare facilities. Responsibilities include managing patient records, scheduling appointments, processing insurance claims, handling referrals, posting payments, assisting in setting up patient payment plans, and providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors. The specialist must demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with medical office software systems. Ability to collaborate with staff, providers, and management, as well as work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate with healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update electronic medical systems.
  • Verify insurance information and assist with billing claims.
  • Post insurance payments.
  • Handle confidential information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Handle referrals process from sending out referrals, to making appointments, and receiving office notes from initial referral visit.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in phone etiquette and appointment scheduling.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes.
  • Experience in administrative assistance and office operations in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in medical office administration or related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is an advantage.
