Maui Medical Group, a leading healthcare provider since 1961, seeks a Referral Coordinator to manage referral authorization requests from providers' offices and obtain required authorizations and precertifications from insurance companies. This role ensures accuracy of information between providers and insurers and tracks referrals to ensure timely completion.
Responsibilities include receiving and coordinating referral authorization requests, verifying accuracy and completeness, submitting referrals to insurance companies, tracking requests, supervising referral clerks, reviewing and implementing insurance guidelines, reporting referral tracking data, and corresponding with involved parties such as outside physicians, insurance companies, and nursing personnel. The position requires maintaining confidentiality, making timely decisions within authority, and adhering to company policies.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of medical experience in healthcare insurance administration, with knowledge of medical/healthcare insurance terminology, ability to manage multiple tasks, computer literacy including EMR and referral tracking systems, and supervisory skills. Preferred qualifications include effective written and verbal communication skills.
Work involves walking (15%) and prolonged sitting (85%), lifting up to 25 lbs, and requires manual dexterity and corrected vision and normal hearing. Equipment used includes personal computer, fax, telephone, copier, and scanner.
Starting pay is approximately $19.01 per hour, depending on experience.
