Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Responsibilities include:

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes for diagnoses and procedures
• Prepare and submit accurate claims using EMR and EHR systems to insurance companies
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize revenue recovery
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
• Maintain detailed and organized medical records
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies
• Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding standards, and insurance requirements

Requirements:

• Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications
• Familiarity with medical terminology, records management, and documentation standards
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
• Ability to interpret medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes efficiently
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Prior experience in medical collection processes is a plus

Compensation is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. Position is in-person in Van Nuys, CA.
