Responsibilities include:
- Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes for diagnoses and procedures
- Prepare and submit accurate claims using EMR and EHR systems to insurance companies
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to maximize revenue recovery
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies
- Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding standards, and insurance requirements
Requirements:
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications
- Familiarity with medical terminology, records management, and documentation standards
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes efficiently
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Prior experience in medical collection processes is a plus
Compensation is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour. Position is in-person in Van Nuys, CA.
