Anesthesia Biller

Work alongside surgeons and healthcare professionals in a fast-paced outpatient surgical setting focused on innovation, precision, and outstanding patient outcomes.

Support accurate claims processing, reimbursement follow-up, and revenue cycle operations for outpatient ophthalmologic surgical procedures. Prepare, review, and submit anesthesia claims to commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payers. Verify anesthesia documentation accuracy including time units, base units, physical status modifiers, provider information, diagnosis, and procedure codes.

Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, anesthesia billing regulations, and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) requirements. Monitor claim status, resolve rejections, denials, underpayments, and payment discrepancies. Submit corrected claims, appeals, and maintain billing records within electronic medical record systems.

Coordinate anesthesia billing for outpatient ophthalmology and vision surgical procedures in the ASC setting. Review operative schedules and anesthesia records to confirm accurate case information. Collaborate with scheduling and authorization staff to obtain insurance information and authorizations prior to procedures.

Conduct follow-up on unpaid or denied claims, research billing discrepancies, maintain aging reports, communicate with payers, and respond confidentially to patient billing inquiries. Assist with identifying denial trends.

Collaborate on CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and anesthesia modifier coding, maintain knowledge of anesthesia billing rules, payer regulations, and ASC reimbursement methodologies. Support compliance with HIPAA and conduct internal audits and documentation requests. Maintain confidentiality of patient and financial information.

Perform administrative tasks including posting payments, adjustments, refunds, assisting with month-end reporting, and participating in process improvements to enhance billing efficiency and reimbursement accuracy.

This full-time position is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at an ambulatory surgery center. Requires detailed-oriented, experienced professional with strong communication and organizational skills. Prolonged computer work and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 7 years of medical billing experience
  • Minimum 3 years of anesthesia billing experience
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding, and anesthesia modifiers
  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer guidelines, and ASC reimbursement
  • Understanding of anesthesia time-based billing and payer-specific requirements
  • Proficient in billing software, EMR systems, Microsoft Office
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced healthcare environment

Preferred:

  • Associate degree
  • Prior ambulatory surgery center billing experience
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
  • AAPC Credentialing
