The Hospital Billing Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient billing and insurance claims within a healthcare setting, managing the entire billing cycle from verifying patient information to submitting claims and resolving discrepancies. The role involves collaboration with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate financial transactions and optimize reimbursement while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and billing standards. The specialist also addresses billing inquiries to support a positive patient experience.
Typical working hours are Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm at 943 S. Beneva Road, Sarasota.
This position requires proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR), strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and billing codes (CPT, ICD-10), as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Preferred qualifications include Certified Coding Specialist (CPC or CPC-A) certification, experience with Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance billing, and a minimum of 2 years medical billing experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
