We are seeking a motivated Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) to join our primary care practice as a Medical Billing & Coding Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for an international physician to gain hands-on experience in the U.S. healthcare system. Training will be provided on-site, with a focus on medical billing, coding, and administrative processes in a primary care setting.
Responsibilities include assisting with medical coding using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, reviewing patient charts and documentation for accurate billing, supporting claim submission, tracking, and follow-up with insurance companies, verifying insurance eligibility and benefits, identifying and correcting billing discrepancies or denials, maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient and billing records, collaborating with providers and administrative staff to ensure compliance, and learning and applying U.S. healthcare billing regulations and guidelines.
Qualifications include a medical degree from a foreign institution, strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical concepts, bilingual (English and Spanish preferred), interest in healthcare administration, billing, and coding, willingness to learn and be trained on U.S. billing systems, attention to detail and strong organizational skills, basic computer proficiency (EMR/EHR experience is a plus), and good communication skills.
Preferred qualifications include prior exposure to medical billing or coding (not required), familiarity with ICD-10 or CPT coding systems, and experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
