Post patient charges, including checking coding, ABN documentation, and verification of patient demographics. Post payments, file appeals when necessary, and assist in determining final claim status. Maintain accurate count of collections received each day. Maintain daily count of physician, procedure, nursing home, hospital, and nurse visits.
Submit claims to accounts and carriers/intermediaries as appropriate. Check coding to ensure accuracy and medical necessity. Ensure information is appropriate for client or insurance billing. Assist in follow-up on payment and billing errors. Send medical records requested by insurance companies. Send monthly deposit reports to accounting. Fill out paperwork for patient/insurance refunds. Help answer phone and make appointments. Perform other duties assigned by supervision or Director associated with clinic specialty.
Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals. Familiarity with EMR systems a plus.
Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol. Must effectively communicate both orally and in writing with others.
Physical demands include bending to perform certain duties. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. Significant writing and computer entry required.
