Clinical Billing Manager (Path & Lab)

UTHealth Houston is a leading Texas healthcare education and patient care institution.

As a Clinical Billing Manager on the Path & Lab team, you will manage and optimize the professional fee revenue cycle, ensuring accurate and timely charge capture, coding, billing, and collections.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor performance metrics: charge activity, submission timeliness, coding patterns, receivables, denials, and collections.
  • Establish and oversee processes for capture and reconciliation of physician service charges.
  • Serve as liaison with physicians, billing companies, and payors.
  • Provide training on charge capture and billing processes.
  • Maintain billing compliance and stay current on coding conventions and payer guidelines.
  • Generate monthly operational reports and communicate billing policies.

Requirements:

  • Superior knowledge of insurance reimbursement.
  • Certifications required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by AAPC; Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by AHIMA; must complete certification within 12 months if not already certified.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years directly related experience.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Five years directly related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, or related field.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by AAPC required.
  • Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) by AHIMA required.
  • Must complete certification within 12 months if not already certified.

  • Ability to maintain security sensitive work environment.
