Medical Billing & Coding Analyst

As a Medical Billing & Coding Analyst, you will support forensic healthcare and litigation consulting by reviewing medical bills and records for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to industry standards. Collaborate with Legal Nurse Consultants and medical billing experts to apply coding systems such as CPT®, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and HCPCS, evaluate charges against usual, customary, and reasonable standards, and contribute to expert reporting and audits.

Responsibilities include analyzing medical billing records, supporting senior billing experts in litigation, preparing detailed written summaries, maintaining quality documentation, staying current with healthcare billing regulations, and participating in multidisciplinary teamwork. The role offers hybrid or remote work arrangements based on requirements, with occasional travel.

Requirements include a minimum of 3 years in medical billing and coding, experience with revenue cycle processes, claims analysis or healthcare compliance, proficiency with EHR systems, and active certification (CPC, CCS, CMRS, BCSC). Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree or equivalent, experience in litigation support or forensic review, additional credentials (CPMA, RHIA, CHDA, CPCO, CDIP, CDEI, FMC), and strong communication skills appropriate for legal settings.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in medical billing and coding
  • Experience with end-to-end revenue cycle and medical record documentation review
  • Exposure to claims analysis, audits, or healthcare compliance activities
  • Strong understanding of healthcare billing practices, payer rules, and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing platforms
  • Active certifications such as CPC, CCS, CMRS, or BCSC
  • Attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Experience in litigation support, expert consulting, forensic review
  • Additional credentials (CPMA, RHIA, CHDA, CPCO, CDIP, CDEI, FMC) a plus
  • Strong professional and legal communication skills
