Senior Medical Billing Specialist

We are a growing orthopedic practice in East Rutherford, NJ seeking an advanced and experienced Medical Biller to join our dedicated team. This is an in-person and patient-facing role and not an entry-level position.

The Medical Biller manages billing workflows from submission through resolution, partnering with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and thrives in a team setting.

Key responsibilities include managing end-to-end medical billing processes and revenue cycle management (RCM); submitting and following up on insurance claims; handling out-of-network billing including IDR and personal injury cases; reviewing and resolving claim denials and discrepancies; posting payments and reconciling EOBs and ERAs; verifying patient insurance eligibility; responding to patient billing inquiries professionally; maintaining accurate billing records; working with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding to ensure correct charge capture; collaborating with clinical and front desk teams; and staying updated on payer policies and regulatory changes.

Requirements:

• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Minimum 3+ years experience in medical billing and/or RCM
• Comfort speaking with patients about billing inquiries
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS
• Experience with out-of-network billing, IDR processes, and personal injury billing preferred
• Proficiency with medical billing/practice management software
• Comfortable using Google Suite
• Advanced understanding of insurance verification, claim submission, payment posting, denial management
• Strong computer skills, multitasking ability, excellent communication skills

Preferred qualifications include orthopedic or musculoskeletal billing experience, Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and familiarity with workers' compensation and personal injury billing.
