Peterson Health, an independent, not-for-profit rural community hospital located in Kerrville, TX, seeks a full-time Physician Billing Specialist for day shift (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm).

Responsibilities include medical billing and accounts receivable management, charge entry, payment posting, customer service and follow-up in line with practice protocols.

You will review patient demographic information and physician office visit coding at the time of charge entry to ensure accuracy, maximize revenue and ensure timely payments.

The role involves submitting insurance claims in both electronic and paper formats.

Requirements & Qualifications

1-3 years experience using outpatient facility EMR and practice management systems
Microsoft Office proficiency
Computer keyboarding skills
Medical terminology knowledge
Certified Professional Coder through AAPC and/or CCS-P through AHIMA preferred within two years of hire date
1-3 years relevant experience in professional coding and/or billing preferred
