Medical Biller

California Lung Associates

Great full-time opportunity for someone who has a solid medical billing and collection experience and strong working knowledge of Southern California HMO structures, including relationships between health plans, IPA's, and medical groups. Candidate must be highly detail-oriented and organized, with strong communication skills (writing and speaking), the ability to manage time effectively, follow directions, and work efficiently. Demonstrates accountability, initiative, adaptability, and a strong capacity to learn quickly and apply our company workflow processes. Candidate should also be experienced in accessing and navigating insurance portals for health plans.

Responsibilities include sharing eligibility/verification for approximately 75 patients per day; charge entry for mostly outpatient E&M codes and some hospital E&M codes; mailing patient statements; working clearing house rejections, some authorizations, payor denials, appeals, payment posting and appeals; prepping banking deposits; maintaining billing ledger for accountant; assistance with credentialing/re-credentialing. Will be working alongside another Biller/Collector and expected to work as a team, sharing responsibilities.

Flexible work schedule (can set own hours), but must work on site Monday-Friday for a minimum of 35 hours or maximum of 40 hours.

Paid 15 days vacation, 6 sick days, parking, 401K and opportunity for profit sharing, health and dental benefits.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Southern California HMO structures, including relationships between health plans, IPAs, and medical groups
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Strong communication skills (writing and speaking)
  • Ability to manage time effectively and follow directions
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate accountability, initiative, adaptability
  • Experience accessing and navigating insurance portals for health plans
  • Must have references and be available for in-person interview
  • Must be able to work on site Monday-Friday, 35-40 hours per week
