We are looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing firm. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of billing experience predominantly with physician billing for outpatient and rural health services, including but not limited to primary care, behavioral health, durable medical equipment, and other medical specialties. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes/modifiers, however a coding certification is not required.
Responsibilities include updating and reviewing claim data prior to submission; serving as liaison between company and clients; coordinating with clients to retrieve information; resolving pre-bill edits or clearinghouse rejections; managing accounts and claims volume; ensuring communication with clients regarding billing issues; identifying and proposing solutions for claim issues; preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software; using phone and insurance portals to check claim status and rules; researching claim denials to determine root causes; coordinating with team members including offshore teams.
Skills required include advanced knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing rules, modifier usage, place of service considerations, and payer rules research; proven experience as billing specialist; adherence to laws and best practices; excellent knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel), practice management software, clearinghouse software, and payer portals; proficiency in English; multitasking ability; attention to detail and trustworthiness.
Qualifications: 3+ years in a medical billing role at multi-specialty or mid-size medical group preferred with DME, Behavioral Health, and Rural Health experience preferred but not required; high-school diploma required, associate degree in medical or business related field preferred; formal billing and/or coding training preferred.
Working conditions include sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; frequent talking, hearing, and seeing; consistent hand movement for keyboarding.
