We have an immediate opening for an experienced Billing Specialist within our billing department.
The Billing Specialist oversees the billing process, including processing patient payments, maintaining financial records, and calculating bills by reviewing previous financial statements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Entering daily charges
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of ICD-10 and CPT codes and submitting clean claims to insurance carriers
- Assisting patients with inquiries via phone
- Collecting payments
- Retrieving billing info from EHR to EPM and verifying physician coding
- Reviewing patient financial statements for inconsistencies
- Coordinating with patients, insurers, and team to resolve billing issues
- Entering payments into patient accounts
- Balancing daily receivables
- Helping patients find financial solutions and arranging payment plans
- Processing vision claims and reviewing/correcting claim errors
- Applying medical terminology knowledge
Claims are filed through NextGen and other insurance portals. The specialist resolves billing discrepancies, collects payments, adjusts accounts, and follows up on claim status.
Ideal candidates have at least 5 years of medical billing experience, knowledge of medical insurance and EMR systems, with ophthalmology office experience preferred. Attention to detail, reliability, efficiency, computer skills, and independent work capabilities are essential.
This is an in-office, full-time position with work hours from 8:30 AM to 5 PM.
