Internal Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. You will manage the billing process, ensure accurate coding, and facilitate smooth reimbursement workflows. Your expertise will optimize revenue cycles by translating medical procedures and diagnoses into billing codes, submitting claims efficiently, and following up on outstanding payments.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare and submit clean claims using ClaimMD (our EMR) to insurance companies and third-party payers.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly, performing effective medical collections to maximize reimbursements.
• Collaborate with medical office staff to verify patient information, insurance details, and documentation accuracy.
• Maintain detailed records of billing transactions, claim statuses, and payment histories within secure medical records systems.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT) and healthcare policies.
• Collect copayments.
• Submit payroll.
• Work with insurance companies to credential therapists.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience with medical billing processes within EMR/EHR systems.
• Excellent understanding of insurance claim procedures and medical collection strategies.
• Familiarity with healthcare documentation standards and medical records management.
• Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for proper billing and coding.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of medical office operations.

This is an in-person position located in Oahu, Hawaii. Candidates must be on or plan to be on Oahu within 30 days.
