Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle operations and support optimal patient care delivery.

Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medical records for accuracy before billing, applying appropriate CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and DRG classifications to claims, preparing and submitting insurance claims electronically using EMR and EHR systems while ensuring compliance with payer requirements, following up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection strategies including resubmission or appeals, maintaining detailed records of billing activities and correspondence, collaborating with healthcare providers to clarify billing details or resolve discrepancies, and staying updated on medical coding standards, insurance policies, and regulatory guidelines to ensure ongoing compliance.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of coding principles, familiarity with medical terminology and revenue cycle process, hands-on experience with EMR/EHR billing systems, knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance claim submissions, excellent attention to detail interpreting complex medical documentation, and strong communication skills for interaction with healthcare providers, insurers, and patients.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Proven experience in medical billing with strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and the revenue cycle process.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and documentation.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance claim submissions, and collections management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex medical documentation.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
