Medical Biller/Collector

Busy hand surgeons practice with 2 locations is looking for a medical biller/collector with at least 2 years of experience. The role involves working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), reading and understanding Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for payment posting, handling insurance denials, writing appeals, and managing workers' compensation claims. Responsibilities include working with aging reports, contacting insurance companies and patients about outstanding balances, processing electronic and paper claims, verifying patient insurance, and addressing billing inquiries both by phone and in clinic. This position collaborates with medical staff to ensure proper coding and billing compliance, resolves billing issues, and maintains detailed billing records within the EMR system.

Qualifications include proven medical billing and collections experience in healthcare, strong knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems, familiarity with medical office operations and EMR/EHR billing systems, understanding medical records management for billing accuracy, detail orientation, and organizational skills to handle multiple claims. Prior medical coding experience is highly desirable.
