We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate coding, and maintaining medical records. This role requires proficiency in medical terminology and coding systems, including ICD-9 and ICD-10, as well as familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) methodologies. The Medical Biller will play a crucial role in the revenue cycle management by ensuring timely and accurate billing and collections.
- Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage to ensure accuracy before billing.
- Code medical records using appropriate coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) for diagnoses and procedures.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to billing.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation for all billing transactions.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify any information necessary for accurate billing.
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding regulations and billing practices to ensure compliance.
- Assist in medical collections efforts as needed, working with patients to resolve outstanding balances.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), DRG, and medical office operations.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
