Lead a team of billing specialists and provide leadership and support as needed.
Handle medical and ASC facility billing processes.
Request authorizations from insurance companies and primary providers, and verify benefits.
Manage unallocated funds, transactions for multiple entities, collection balances, and insurance aging.
Ensure accurate claims information, including patient data, diagnoses, and procedure codes.
Submit claims on time to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers.
Follow up on denied or unpaid claims, including appeals and resubmissions.
Generate patient statements and invoices, including prior payments and remaining balances.
Post patient and insurance payments to correct line items when received.
Use working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCFA 1500, UB04 claim forms, HIPAA billing and insurance regulations, insurance benefits, and appeal processes.
Understand medical billing, collections, payment posting, revenue cycle, third-party payers, Medicare, and Florida and Federal payer regulations.
Maintain understanding of privacy laws such as HIPAA and protection of patient data.
Reconcile payment reports and calculate copays and deductibles.
Utilize electronic health records (EHR) and claims software; EMA software experience is a plus.
Review payer contracts and manage monthly close processes.
Minimum of 2 years experience in billing. Caring, patient, and friendly attitude. Strong leadership and management skills. Well-organized with excellent attention to detail. Familiarity with billing software and systems. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent follow-up skills. Ability to work under pressure. Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to billing and collections. Team player with a positive attitude.
