Patient Financial Services Manager

Central Louisiana Surgical Hospital

Under the general direction of the senior financial officer/director, this role develops departmental policies and is responsible for financial counseling, billing, collection, cash management, and reconciliation processes. The manager oversees and coordinates the activities of teams to meet departmental goals, performs trend analyses, produces reports, identifies, and resolves problems to ensure maximum revenue and cash flow beneficial to the hospital.

Responsibilities include supervision of billing and accounts receivable management staff, ensuring adherence to business office policies, conducting staff meetings and performance reviews, leading day-to-day operations, training and motivating staff, preparing financial and management reports, assisting with monthly accounting analyses, daily cash management, reviewing insurance contracts, maintaining relationships with payors, resolving billing and medical records issues, managing inventory of office supplies, and serving as charge-master coordinator.

The manager ensures yearly coding changes are updated in CPT data files, assists in budget development, and maintains compliance with regulatory standards and facility behavior standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred with 5-7 years of management experience in healthcare revenue cycle and billing management. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to hospital financial operations. Strong knowledge of payer (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial) requirements for charging, coding, billing, and compliance. Experience with billing, accounts receivable, denial management, coding/compliance, and cash management in a hospital or health system setting. Proficient with revenue cycle management systems and business process improvement. Excellent communication skills, coaching ability, goal-oriented mindset, budgeting experience, and capacity to manage multiple demands and deadlines.
