This full-time role involves obtaining and documenting accurate demographic and financial data to minimize revenue loss and reduce encounter errors. Responsibilities include collecting, recording, and tabulating monies owed, preparing reports after reconciling data entry batches, communicating professionally with patients and staff, calculating and updating patient sliding fee scales, and performing special projects as assigned.
Candidates should be high school graduates; graduation from an accredited Medical Coding Specialist program is desired. Skills include operating computer systems efficiently, working knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes, knowledge of medical terminology preferred, experience in ambulatory care or hospital settings preferred, ability to meet deadlines, excellent analytical skills, self-motivation, accuracy in proofreading, good interpersonal skills, understanding of insurance billing, and CPR certification.
