Insurance billing specialists need to have knowledge of the medical billing process. Must have knowledge of insurance policies and be able to communicate with insurance companies on behalf of medical personnel and patients. This knowledge is used to submit claims and do follow-up with insurance carriers to ensure claims are submitted and paid correctly.
The role requires multi-tasking, extensive customer service skills, and the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced working environment. Integrity in maintaining confidential information and conveying a positive, professional image are essential.
- 2 years billing experience preferred
- Knowledge of insurance required
- Knowledge of claims submission and denial management processes for insurance preferred
- 2 years college preferred
