Tulsa Cardiovascular Center of Excellence is seeking a high-performing Medical Billing Specialist to drive revenue cycle accuracy and efficiency within our growing cardiovascular practice. This role is critical to optimizing reimbursement, reducing accounts receivable days, and ensuring compliance across all billing and collections activities.
Manage full-cycle accounts receivable, including charge review, claim submission, payment posting, and collections.
Ensure accurate coding and billing using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes specific to cardiovascular services such as cath lab, vascular interventions, and diagnostic testing.
Proactively follow up on unpaid and underpaid claims; identify root causes and implement resolution strategies.
Analyze and resolve claim denials, rejections, and payer discrepancies with a focus on maximizing reimbursement.
Verify documentation supports billed services and meets payer and compliance requirements.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding balances, insurance coverage, and payment arrangements.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to correct coding or documentation issues impacting reimbursement.
Monitor payer trends, prior authorization requirements, and evolving billing regulations.
Maintain accurate and compliant patient account records within the EMR/practice management system.
Generate and report A/R metrics, including aging reports, collection rates, and denial trends.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of medical billing and accounts receivable experience, ideally in cardiology or specialty practice.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and outpatient coding; familiarity with cardiovascular procedures highly desirable.
- Proven experience in denial management, appeals, and payer follow-up.
- Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines.
- Experience with EMR and billing systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload while meeting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with a professional and patient-centered approach.
Preferred:
- Experience in interventional cardiology, vascular, or endovascular billing.
- Familiarity with prior authorizations and medical necessity requirements.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
