We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Biller to join our growing home health care team. In this role, you will be responsible for processing and managing insurance claims, verifying billing information, following up on unpaid claims, and assisting patients and staff with billing-related questions.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable communicating with insurance companies, physicians’ offices, clinicians, and patients. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care billing in a home health setting is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include processing and submitting medical claims for Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, and managed care plans; reviewing claims for accuracy, completeness, and compliance; following up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims and assisting with appeals and corrections; verifying patient insurance coverage, eligibility, authorizations, and billing requirements; communicating with insurance companies; working closely with clinicians and medical offices to obtain required documentation; posting payments, adjustments, and denials; maintaining accurate patient billing records; assisting patients and families with billing questions; monitoring accounts receivable and assisting with collections as appropriate; maintaining confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; supporting administrative and billing duties as assigned.
Qualifications include previous medical billing experience (home health billing strongly preferred), knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, EVV, PDGM, and managed care billing processes, experience with EMR or billing software, strong attention to detail, excellent communication and customer service skills, ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
Schedule offers full-time or part-time with Monday–Friday hours, in-office position with potential for hybrid flexibility based on experience and performance, and flexible work-from-home options available.
- Previous medical billing experience required; home health billing experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, EVV, PDGM, and managed care billing processes preferred
- Experience with EMR or billing software systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
