Wayne County Mental Health is hiring a Senior Medical Billing Clerk for outpatient Behavioral Health billing. This role involves supervising and performing various medical insurance billing and financial record keeping duties for behavioral health services. Responsibilities include entering medical billing information, reviewing financial records for accuracy, supervising billing records and balances, preparing reports related to medical billing, electronically submitting files to Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance, preparing and sending insurance forms manually, verifying insurance coverage and authorizations, conducting routine correspondence regarding billing policies and procedures, maintaining financial records, and addressing provider inquiries related to billing procedures and issues.
This is an in-office, full-time position located in Lyons, NY. The position is provisional pending a Civil Service Exam.
Education must be from an accredited institution. A combination of education and experience in business administration, human services, accounting, or related field, and medical billing is required. Successful completion of relevant medical technology coursework may substitute for experience.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Graduation from a four-year accredited college in business administration, human services, accounting, or related field; OR
- An Associate Degree in similar fields with two years full-time paid medical billing experience; OR
- High school diploma or equivalent with four years full-time paid medical billing experience; OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education must be from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent verification for foreign degrees.
