We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accuracy in medical billing and collections, and maintaining comprehensive medical records. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical office while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities include processing and submitting medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients, reviewing patient records for accuracy and completeness prior to billing, performing medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and patient balances, utilizing coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for proper coding of diagnoses and procedures, maintaining and updating medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, collaborating with healthcare providers to resolve billing or coding discrepancies, staying informed about changes in medical terminology, coding practices, and insurance policies, and generating reports related to billing activities, collections, and outstanding claims.
To qualify, candidates must have proven experience in medical billing with knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices, familiarity with ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG and other coding systems, a strong understanding of medical collections processes, excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, proficiency in medical office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems, and strong communication skills for interacting effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare staff.
