Medical Billing Specialist

First Choice Community Health Centers

Join First Choice Community Health Centers located in Lillington, NC, offering a balance of small-town charm and proximity to Raleigh and Fayetteville.

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for billing and collections for Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance, and Self Pay patients across Medical and Dental clinics, with duties assigned by the Billing Supervisor.

This is an on-site role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing third-party billings, accounts pending, and data trends.
  • Posting cash receipts and insurance payments to EHS software.
  • Researching and following up on payment denials.
  • Completing secondary insurance filings.
  • Reviewing charges and maintaining monthly deposit journals.
  • Assisting with financial reconciliations and reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS codes in EHS software.
  • Performing required end-of-day and end-of-month procedures.
  • Researching and resolving accounts receivable credit balances.
  • Assisting with annual cost reports, audits, and government reporting.
  • Covering Patient Representative duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years progressive billing experience.

Skills:

  • Proficient with computerized billing/accounting systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills, attention to detail, and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to policies.

Work environment is moderate noise and may accommodate disabilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Medical Billing and Coding preferred.
  • Minimum of two years progressive billing experience.
  • Familiarity with computerized accounting/billing systems.
  • Good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow policies.
