As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies, collecting, posting, and managing account payments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge of medical billing and collection practices
- Billing or banking experience
- Familiarity with computer programs and business office procedures
- Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party payer procedures
- Ability to operate computer, office equipment, and multi-line phone system
- Strong telephone etiquette
Working Conditions:
- Occasionally carry up to 20 lbs
- Long periods of sitting
- Ability to handle pressure and emergency situations
- Possible non-traditional working hours
- Deescalate upset patients professionally
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit claims electronically
- Handle patient and insurance inquiries professionally
- Resolve billing complaints or escalate appropriately
- Prepare, review, and send patient statements
- Evaluate patient financial status and establish payment plans
- Report delinquent accounts
- Recommend assignment resolutions to supervisors
- Perform collection actions including patient contact
- Correct and resubmit claims
- Post payments and prepare daily deposits
- Participate in training and staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
