Medical Billing Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to support the revenue cycle for our dental ambulatory surgery centers. This role is responsible for accurate and timely billing of medical claims associated with surgical procedures performed under general anesthesia.

The ideal candidate understands the intersection of dental and medical billing, is comfortable working with Medicaid and commercial payors, and can operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities include submitting and managing medical claims for surgical procedures, ensuring accurate coding for procedures involving general anesthesia, managing claims from submission through resolution including handling edits, rejections, and denials, following up with payors, posting payments and reconciling accounts, identifying denial trends to resolve root causes, collaborating with internal teams for clean claims, maintaining compliant documentation, and supporting process standardization across locations.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of medical billing experience, preferably in ambulatory surgery center (ASC), surgical, or procedural settings
• Strong knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance billing
• Experience handling claims submission through payment and denial resolution
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers in surgical environments
• Ability to manage a high volume of claims across multiple sites
• Attention to detail and discrepancy identification
• Ability to work independently and take ownership

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience billing dental procedures under general anesthesia
• Experience in ambulatory surgery center environments
• Exposure to multi-state billing operations
• Familiarity with payer portals and tools such as Availity
