This Medical Billing Specialist role involves accurately capturing charges and billing for services, reducing claim reprocessing, tracking missed opportunities, and improving charging processes.
Responsibilities include analyzing financial exceptions from charge capture audit reports, collaborating with IT and clinical departments to rectify charge capture issues, conducting audits, performing root cause analyses, reviewing denial trends, interfacing with clinical teams to resolve billing issues, and recommending process improvements to optimize reimbursement. The role also involves supporting management with data and special projects, maintaining productivity, monitoring claims reimbursement timeliness, and communicating trends to management.
The position requires adherence to company policies, participation in educational programs to stay current with CMS reimbursement rules, commercial payer contracts, and coding changes.
This role requires onsite presence with potential for hybrid work.
Preferred qualifications include 5 years’ medical billing experience, ophthalmology background, and CPC-A or CPC certification.
Skills needed include revenue cycle management knowledge, CMS guidelines comprehension, computer literacy, attention to detail, communication abilities, math skills, customer service skills, and strict HIPAA compliance.
