We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Charge Entry Specialist to join our team. We are currently seeking a Medical Billing Specialist who thrives in a meticulous environment and understands the importance of accurate billing, reimbursement, and collection processes to ensure clean claim submissions.
This position plays a fundamental role in aiding our billing/reimbursement team with the company's revenue stream to ensure compliance with payer requirements is met and maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Handle daily billing activities to ensure claims are submitted, electronically or on HCFA 1500 form, accurately.
- Generate and analyze billing reports to optimize revenue collection.
- Learn, understand, and follow payer guidelines.
- Notify management of payer policy changes.
- Ensure appropriate information is submitted to insurance companies to expedite payment.
- Handle incoming calls for information requests from insurance companies and patients.
- Work to understand operative notes that dictate procedures billed.
- Reallocate misapplied payments and adjustments.
- Work on special assignments as needed.
- Utilize coding resources (CPT, ICD-10, CDR, AAOS books) to understand procedures that are denied.
- Document accounts correctly.
- Participate in billing and collection-related meetings to discuss account resolutions.
- Set up payment plans on self-pay accounts.
- Review daily drug posting.
- Correct posting errors.
- Follow the Medical Record Release policy.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and security protocols.
- Support RGF's Mission Statement.
Qualification & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of billing procedures, CPT Coding, ICD-10, Claims scrubbing, Encoder Pro, and collection techniques
- Thorough understanding of AR processes, third-party payers, and CMS regulations
- Ability to read and understand LCD, payer guidelines, and EOBs
- Experience using medical billing software
- Ability to prioritize tasks properly
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of Practice+ and Nextgen is a plus
- Ability to answer multi-line telephones
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
