Medical Biller and Claims Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Biller and Claims Specialist to join our team. You will manage the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies, government programs, and patients. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles and improve patient satisfaction by resolving billing issues efficiently.

Duties include preparing and submitting medical claims using EMR/EHR systems and CMS 1500 Forms, reviewing patient records for accurate coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG classifications, verifying insurance coverage and benefits, communicating with insurance carriers to resolve billing issues, following up on unpaid or denied claims, maintaining detailed billing records, collaborating with medical office staff, and staying current with industry regulations and coding updates.

Minimum qualifications include 2 years of experience preferred in medical billing, strong knowledge of EOBs and insurance guidelines, proficiency with billing software and EHR systems (such as Inovalon, Payspan, Myability, Availity, Allscripts, Epic), excellent attention to detail and communication skills, high school diploma or equivalent, with billing/coding certification preferred. Ability to work independently and maintain a 98% clean claim rate is expected.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay: $18.00–$22.00 per hour
  • Part-time, 10-15 hours a week
  • Monday through Friday schedule with flexible hours
  • 8 paid holidays
  • Accessible office in Dorchester, MA with parking, served by MBTA Commuter Rail, Red Line, and Orange Line
Requirements & Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience in medical billing preferred (training available for entry-level)
  • Strong understanding of EOBs, insurance guidelines, and claim processes
  • Proficiency with billing software and EHR systems (Inovalon, Payspan, Myability, Availity, Allscripts, Epic)
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; certification in billing/coding preferred
  • Ability to work independently and stay motivated
  • Maintain a 98% clean claim rate
