Prepare and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers. Review and verify patient information, including insurance coverage and eligibility. Utilize coding systems such as ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG to ensure accurate billing. Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the collection process for outstanding accounts. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing and coding. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices. Assist in the management of medical records to ensure compliance with privacy regulations.

Skills required:

Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical collections processes. Experience with medical billing software and systems. Knowledge of coding practices including ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG methodologies. Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills. Effective communication with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. Familiarity with medical office procedures and documentation standards. Problem-solving skills to address billing issues efficiently. Medicaid knowledge is a plus.
