The DME Billing Specialist acts as a liaison between the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Department and patients' insurance companies, ensuring proper and compliant claims processing.
Responsibilities include maintaining medical compliance as per insurance and HIPAA standards, submitting daily insurance claims, investigating unpaid or denied claims, reviewing rental equipment authorizations, verifying DME retail and insurance sales, contacting insurance providers for clarifications, obtaining necessary physician paperwork for claims, verifying patient insurance eligibility, recording incoming payments, coordinating with Accounts Receivable, and supporting medical reviews, appeals, and reconsiderations as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year medical billing experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills
