The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Candidates should possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and electronic health record (EHR) systems to succeed in this position.
Responsibilities include assigning ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes; reviewing medical records for accurate coding and billing; preparing and submitting claims; following up on unpaid claims; ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations; maintaining accurate records; collaborating with healthcare providers; staying updated on coding standards; and resolving billing discrepancies and patient inquiries.
Preferred experience includes prior medical billing and coding in healthcare, proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards, familiarity with billing processes and insurance claims, and excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
