We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Biller to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team. Ideal candidates possess strong knowledge of orthopedic coding, ASC-specific billing practices, and payer regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate core values: patient centered, team focused, service driven, accountable, innovative.
- Review and abstract information from operative and clinical documentation to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for surgical cases.
- Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, payer policies, and ASC coding regulations.
- Manage billing functions for surgical procedures: claim creation, submission, follow-up.
- Communicate with providers to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy.
- Monitor and respond to coding-related denials, rejections, edits; assist with appeals and process improvement.
- Collaborate with billing team and departments to resolve discrepancies and optimize revenue cycle.
- Participate in internal audits and maintain coding accuracy.
- Stay current with coding regulations, payer updates, and orthopedic policies.
- Handle incoming billing and coding inquiries from patients, providers, and vendors professionally.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in medical billing, preferably orthopedic or ASC.
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and coding software; experience with SIS or Waystar a plus.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to orthopedics, physical therapy, and podiatry preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
Physical Demands:
- Manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for data entry.
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to communicate effectively.
- Primarily sedentary work with occasional standing/walking and light lifting.
This role does not offer specified yearly salary, hourly wage provided: $19.80 - $35.64 per hour.
