Position Summary:
As a Billing Specialist II, you manage the full billing cycle for a defined set of accounts, payors, or markets—from checking inputs to submitting claims and handling standard payor responses. You drive clean claims and stable workflows, learn from denials, and collaborate with Insurance Relations and Patient Experience teams.
Essential Functions:
- Own the full billing flow for your assigned work—from documentation and data checks to preparing and billing claims and handling typical responses (e.g., simple rejections, requests for more information).
- Use payer-specific rules and internal guidelines to select correct billing methods for 911 and IFT trips.
- Manage queues in Logis and portals to prevent backlog.
- Review denial patterns and feedback, adjusting processes to avoid repeated mistakes.
- Support Billing Specialist I colleagues with questions.
Qualifications:
- 1–2+ years of experience in Ambulance Billing/RCM or similar healthcare billing work.
- Ready to manage full claims ownership beyond single-step tasks.
- Comfortable with payer rules, basic coding inputs, and portals.
- Ownership mindset to follow claims from start to finish ensuring accuracy.
- Motivated to grow into Billing Specialist III and roles like Billing Auditor or Billing Lead.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Small to medium office/shared workspace.
- Varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to sit and use computer for long periods, perform repetitive hand movements, and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
