As an Insurance Billing Specialist, you will perform various insurance clerical duties including following up on unpaid or rejected claims, answering patient inquiries regarding account status, managing insurance balances, denials, and appeals, posting adjustments, issuing refunds, negotiating settlements, and collaborating with credentialing and precertification departments.
Responsibilities also include maintaining knowledge of insurance regulations and CPT codes, handling patient billing calls, maintaining contact with insurance representatives, complying with safety and healthcare laws including HIPAA, and providing training to colleagues.
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of related experience and/or training, including insurance billing and coding experience in a medical billing office
- Education and experience must be combined
