Mesa Vista Wellness is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Billing and Credentialing Specialist to join our behavioral health team. This role ensures financial and operational stability by overseeing provider credentialing, managing insurance and client billing, and following up on outstanding account balances. The ideal candidate will be experienced in healthcare billing—especially behavioral health—and skilled at navigating insurance requirements while maintaining compassion and professionalism with clients.
Key responsibilities include completing and maintaining credentialing and re-credentialing applications for providers with insurance companies, Medicaid, and Medicare; tracking credentialing status; ensuring compliance with payer requirements; maintaining credentialing databases such as CAQH and NPPES; preparing, submitting, and tracking insurance claims; monitoring claim rejections and denials; posting insurance and client payments; generating client statements; reconciling accounts; following up on unpaid client balances with professionalism; managing payment plans; maintaining documentation of collection activities; ensuring HIPAA compliance; collaborating with clinical and administrative staff; and providing regular updates on billing and credentialing.
Qualifications involve previous experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, and/or credentialing ideally in behavioral health or mental health; strong knowledge of insurance requirements, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and payer processes; familiarity with EHR and billing software; exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; professional communication skills; and the ability to balance persistence in collections with compassion. Preferred qualifications include 2+ years experience, knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare billing, experience with credentialing platforms, and prior behavioral health work.
