As a Billing Specialist III, you are an advanced one biller. You manage more complex billing scenarios and payors and are a go-to person for questions in your area. You spend most of your time in production but also help with problem solving, small improvements, and supporting less experienced billers.

This role is a natural next step from Specialist II and a typical feeder role into Billing Auditor or future specialist/lead positions.

In this role you will:

Handle complex billing work for your markets or payors including special contract rules, harder payors, and cases that require more judgement.
Work on advanced tasks such as difficult rejections, coordinating information with Insurance Relations and Patient Experience, and supporting small projects with your Billing Manager or Leads.
Act as a day-to-day subject matter expert for Billing Specialist I and II colleagues, answering questions and helping with tricky cases.
Share patterns and ideas with Training & Quality, Performance & Technology, and Process Excellence Leads when you see recurring issues or improvement opportunities.
Help keep queues stable in priority areas by stepping in where your skills are needed.

Qualifications:

Typically have 3–5+ years of Ambulance Billing/RCM or similar experience, including work as a one biller.
Comfortable with complex payors, rules, and scenarios and enjoy solving harder cases.
Enjoy helping others and naturally support and guide less experienced colleagues without a formal manager title.
Interested in contributing to improvements and progressing into Billing Auditor or other specialist/lead roles.
Comfortable spending most of your time in production while playing a key knowledge and support role.

Working Conditions:

Small to medium office or shared workspace.
Work varied shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
Ability to use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls.
Ability to repeat the same movements for long periods.
Ability to push and lift up to 25 lbs.
